Some Australians Are Still Working With China

There is a stigma against working with China or producing content that may be seen there if you don’t live in that country. Certain countries outright ban their citizens from producing anything that might be used in the communist nation. However, there are others who take a different approach, and Hazza is one of those individuals.

Hazza is an Australian television host working out of Guangzhou, China with his two Chinese co-hosts. His program is quite powerful and quite informative. He seeks to provide the truth about what is happening in China, and he also seeks to strengthen the ties between his home country of Australia and China. He thinks that both things are possible, and he believes firmly in working with any and all countries to help improve ties and hopefully improve the overall economic and cultural situation between these nations. He feels that it is imperative that countries and cultures co-mingle as much as possible in order to learn from one another and pass on shared experiences.

An Opportunity At An Early Age

Hazza’s talents were recognized at an early age. He was called up when he was just 21 to see if he was interested in working with a new international channel developed in China. They wanted his face and his talent to bring to their show, and he felt that he had to take the opportunity. After all, it was an amazing gift that the station was offering, and he felt that it was very important that there was an Australian face on Chinese television.

The Chinese wanted to do it because they saw the massive social media following that Hazza had acquired, and they hoped that he would bring some of his popularity over to their programs to help enhance them and make them even better than they already were. He felt that he could do this for them, and a partnership was struck up. It wasn’t long before Hazza was brought over to start hosting the show, and he has never looked back since.

Steering Clear Of Politics

One of the approaches that Hazza has always taken to his show is to try to steer clear of politics as much as possible. The topic is unavoidable in some circumstances, but for the most part, it is ideal to stay away from the topic whenever possible. Hazza feels that things are too volatile to bring up topics that are going to be controversial and may cause certain people to tune out from the rest of what he has to say. Instead, he tries to direct the conversation towards things that don’t stir up so many negative emotions. Thus, his show is full of many other great topics.

Not Without Controversy

It needs to be understood that Hazza, his show, and some of his public comments are not without controversy. He really got things stirred up when he tweeted: “Today was the first time I’ve even contemplated giving up my Australian citizenship” and went on to praise Chinese leadership stating, “I pay tribute to you [Zhao] and all of the efforts you have made. I hope leaders in our country can learn from you; only then can the world be peaceful and prosperous.”. This was taken as a direct attack on political leaders in Australia and was seen as being far too obedient to the Chinese.

People have very strong opinions about the Chinese government and about more Western governments like Australia. Thus, it is not shocking that his comments generated such strong responses from people on all sides. Fortunately, everyone is allowed to have their opinions, and people can just agree to disagree on certain aspects of what is said or done.
